Aamir Khan: India’s movie legend on a cut-price mission to save Bollywood | Bollywood | The Guardian https://share.google/c41M9Ncgxw2MVcUav

After a hiatus of a few months Hannah Petersen Ellis is back with her favourite pass time of Hindu bashing. This time round, she has had an opportunity to speak to Aamir Khan whom she calls a superstar of Bollywood and a legend. She seems to have been quite overwhelmed by speaking to Aamir Khan and his views on why Indians are not watching Indian movies as much as they used to. Amongst the various reasons why films are failing at the box office Hannah claims that since right wing Hindu nationalists have come to dominate India they have been targeting the 3 Khan’s all Muslims who are the biggest stars in India. If Hindus had been targeting the 3 Khan’s, they would not be the biggest stars in India. It is the very tolerance of Majority Hindus that the 3 Khan’s have been the biggest stars. According to Hannah, Aamir feels that he does not have the freedom to say things and his creative instincts were being curbed.

The real reason why Bollywood industry is in the dumps is because it is engulfed in scandals such as controlled by gangsters, murders, suicides and sexual predators. Just like the BBC, Bollywood is rotten to the core. Over the last 2 decades, films have been produced that have attacked Hindu religion and culture. These film producers dare not make a film attacking any other religion. Hindus in their own country are seen as soft targets. Hindus have woken up to the suttle demonising of their heritage. They are avoiding cinema and it is hurting the likes of Aamir. A mass boycott of Indian films is in the making.

Hannah mentions Aamir’s expressed wish a decade ago to leave India because of what he called the intolerance he was facing as a Muslim in India. There were tens of thousands of offers to pay for his fares to leave India. It was a fitting reply to his narcissistic behaviour.Ten years later he is still in India even though as Hannah says Hindu nationalists are in power. Hannah should give this trope a rest.Surely Aamir is

feeling safe in India, Hannah? After all, according to Aamir, he remains excited by the possibilities of India cinema even  though the dreaded Hindu nationalists are in power. There are any number of countries with Christian nationalists in power or Muslim nationalists in power. Hannah should know by now that India is a majority Hindu country, and Hindu ethos will dominate. The Guardian will not make an iota of difference to the Hindu majority India.
