In today’s Times Amrit Dhillon goes on a anti-Hindu rant about Diwali Fire crackers. I have sent my response to her and the Editor of the Times.

Amrit Dhillon once again has demonstrated her Hindu hatred. An issue of fire works has been turned into Hindu bashing. Delhi she claims is running on Hindu nationalist agenda in this traditional liberal city. She is probably too young to know what happened under the Congress rule. Amrit disparagingly informs the Times readers that the Mayor of Delhi Rekha Gupta has called PM Modi a saint, father, and caring mother for all. One thing is sure, Modi is more honest than Amrit who makes up stories to impress the English readers of the Times. She accuses Hindus of using loudspeakers. Would she accuse Muslims of using loudspeakers in Mosques. She dare not. She scores an own goal by saying that construction dust, vehicle emissions and stubble farming from Punjab sends clouds of thick black smoke across Delhi. However firecrackers are a visible menace and easy target for clean air advocates. The Green crackers are backed by the Supreme Court and Amrit agrees that they release a third of pollutants compared to the normal ones. Amrit claims that clean air has become sectarian in favour of Hindus. Diwali is also celebrated by Sikhs which she should know being a Sikh. They too celebrate with fireworks. So is the Mayor of Delhi sectarian in favour of Sikhs? Or for that matter Jains and Buddhists who also celebrate Diwali? Turning everything into a Hindu nationalist agenda is malicious. At the end of the day India is a Hindu majority country and Hindu ethos and values will be respected. I too would like to see an end to fire crackers but you do not achieve it by calling Hindus names.
