India’s electoral roll revision threatens democracy and Muslims, say critics | India | The Guardian https://share.g.oogle/CFXYDSA0NGBVIHDCR
In an article dated 16 December 2025 Hannah Ellis Petersen and Shaikh Azizur Rahman write another anti-India article. This time it is about SIR( Special Intensive Revision) a project that according to the Election Commission of India is to update and streamline the electrol roll. This would mean removing the names of the deceased and illegitimate as well as duplicate voters. Hannah and Azizur see a conspiracy to target Muslims and disenfranchise them. Hannah boldly claims:
‘The BJP openly embraces a Hindu nationalist ideology seeking to reshape India from a secular state into a Hindu Rashtra, or Hindu nation. During the party’s 11 years in power, its policies and discourse have sharply polarised the nation along religious lines fuelling a surge in anti-Muslim hostility. The BJP has gained unprecedented power over state institutions and its ruling alliance governs 21 out of 28 states’.
The people of India have elected PM Modi over the last 11 years because they have seen a honest politician who has transformed India. He is not anti-anyone. He is pro-India and if you join the mainstream you have nothing to fear.
Let us now look at the hypocrisy of Hannah:
In her country the UK there is a fierce debate going on about illegal immigrants. There are over 100,000 asylum seekers living in hotels. Many of them have committed grave sexual crimes against young girls and women. In an effort to address an explosive issue like this, the main political parties have outlined some drastic proposals.
Here is what Conservatives have promised to do:
They want to create a new force, modelled on the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. It would have a budget of £1.6bn and be tasked with removing 150,000 people annually (750,000 over five years).
Automatic and Swift Deportation:
The plan proposes the immediate detention and deportation of all new illegal arrivals, typically within a week of arrival, along with all foreign criminals.
Bypassing Legal Obstacles:
A central part of the strategy involves leaving the ECHR, repealing the Human Rights Act, and ending the Immigration Tribunal and legal aid for immigration cases to stop “spurious challenges” and accelerate removals.
Expanded Powers: The Removals Force would have sweeping new powers, including working closely with police to conduct immigration checks on arrested individuals and using facial recognition technology.
Labour
Labour wants to establishment of a new Returns and Enforcement Unit. This unit will be staffed with an additional 1,000 personnel dedicated to fast-tracking the removal of individuals who have no legal right to stay in the UK, to safe countries.
Faster Deportation Process:
Labour is committed to accelerating deportations, especially for failed asylum seekers and foreign national offenders. The government has already returned a higher number of people in the last year compared to the previous year.
The Reform Party which is riding on a crest of popularity has promised that anyone who enters the UK illegally will not be able to claim asylum and it has decided to cancel all permission to stay indefinitely privilege.
British politicians have also emphasised the Christian roots of the country. Labour leader Keir Starmer, former Conservative leader David Cameroon and many others have declared the UK as a Christian country and yet Hannah cannot swallow the idea that India is a majority Hindu country and Hindu values and ethos will prevail.
Hannah also has a problem that Modi’s government will give illegal Hindu Bangladeshi’s asylum but not to illegal Muslim Bangladeshi’s. Hindu Bangladeshi’s have been driven out because of their Hindu faith. Where would they go if not to India? The Muslim refugees would and should go back to Bangladesh.
Now let us go back to Hannah’s Hindu tirade and change a few words:
‘The Labour Party and the Conservative Party openly embrace a Christian nationalist ideology seeking to reshape UK from a secular state into a Christian Rashtra, or Christian nation. These discourses have sharply polarised the nation along religious lines fuelling a surge in anti-Muslim hostility’.
That is Hypocrisy laid bare. Guardian’s Hindu hatred laid bare.
