On Saturday 8 February I was invited to do a Hindu prayer at the annual, ‘Love not Hate event in Croydon. The event was organised by Councillor Manju and ex Councillor Toni. Around 400 people were present.
I said the following:
As we celebrate the, ‘Love Not Hate’ the biggest religious gathering in the World is taking place in India at the Maha Kumbh
Festival. At the confluence of 3 holy rivers almost 500 million people have entered the holy waters. That is almost half the population of Europe.
The message coming out from that gathering is that the world is a family. We do not have to fight or quarrel.
The other message coming out from that gathering is that let there be peace in the world. Here is a peace prayer in Sanskrit which I will read.
It means:
Unto the Heaven be Peace.
Unto the Sky and Earth be
Peace. Peace be upon water, unto herbs, and trees be Peace.
Unto all the God’s be Peace.
Unto Brahma and unto all be Peace. And may we realise that Peace.
Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.
