This is their attempt to silence him’: Umar Khalid reaches five years in Indian jail without trial | India | The Guardian https://share.google/qG7lFQKY00xtRpfO4

Hannah Ellis Petersen in her Saturday(20 September 2025) piece on Umar Khalid  confirms her extreme Hindu bias. Hannah is furious that Umar Khalid the mastermind of 2020 Delhi riots has not been freed or brought to trial by the Courts. She claims that Narendra Modi’s Hindu Nationalist party is crushing dissent in the country. If that was the case how is Hannah writing freely so many anti-Modi articles? Would she be able to write such malicious articles in China or Pakistan? Why is she not writing about Imran Khan? Why is she not writing about the crushing of dissent there? She can only operate from India with freedom.

Umar Khalid was arrested by the Delhi Police as a conspirator to the anti-Hindu riots which broke out in Northeast Delhi in 2020. AAP councillor Tahir Hussain, Umar Khalid, Khalid Saifi and others were the organisers of the riots. As per various reports, and according to Tahir Hussain’s admission Umar Khalid was the brains behind the timing of the riots, and was responsible for making them coincide with US President Donald Trump’s first state visit to India, apart from also inciting mobs distantly. In her defence of Umar, Hannah says he was not in Delhi when the riots took place. Obviously she is ignorant about how these people operate. The following from the Delhi court will educate her:

“it is not necessary that every accused should be present at the spot.” The court also cited a witness statement that quoted someone as saying “the accused will move out” on February 23, 2020 before the riots take place; another witness claimed Khalid “had told him to book tickets for him, specifically, for 23.02.2020 for travelling to Patna”.

Umar’s father Qasm Rasool Ilayas was at one time president of SIMI, an organisation of young extremist students that had declared Jihad against India, the aim of which was to establish Dar-ul-Islam (land of Islam).

In India  Umar Khalid and his fellow travellers are known as the, ‘Tukde, tukde gang’.  A gang which wanted to break India in pieces. The new India and the Hindu nationalist leader are no pushover. Those days are gone. The Guardian is irrelevant and delusional.
