Mukul Kesavan

Mukul Kesavan who teaches History at Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi has written an article titled, ‘ Boris Johnson is a patsy for populist leaders – as his India visit shows’ in today’s Guardian 26 April 2022. He accuses Boris Johnson of supporting populist leaders who indulge in majoritarian violence. In the rush to get trade deals with India the Prime Minister Johnson deliberately overlooks the demolition of homes of minorities he claims. From a Britain which always sympathetically heard our left wing, secular academics it has now taken to challenging their half truths and extreme biases. This is very unsettling for the secular lobby. Mukul claims that when asked about the demolition of homes Johnson replied that India was the world’s biggest democracy! Perhaps Johnson knew that the demolition was of illegal structures. The common people are realising that the secularists apart from screaming victimhood are not really their saviours. People can see good governance and progress that the so-called populist leader Modi is bringing to the masses. Driven by their ideological biases the secularists are a relic of the past and the world has moved on.
