In her second article on India Niha Masih talks about the growing ties between India and Israel. She claims that given Israel’s conduct in Palestine, India’s growing ties with Israel is questionable. She quotes Stanly Johny, Indian foreign policy expert and international editor at the Hindu publication. He says that there is a clear confluence between Hindutva and Zionism. I cannot comment on Zionism but Hindutva is not about aggression against anyone. It is about protecting the Hindu religion and way of life. India is the only Hindu majority nation and its ethos and values must have due recognition in the country. Israel also is the only Jewish country and it is not surprising that they too jealously guard their land. Both Hinduism and Judaism have never waged wars to impose their religions on anyone. They have not destroyed entire civilizations in the name of religion.
Niha complains that India is exporting arms to Israel. Under Modi’s leadership India has become an arms supplier not only to Israel but many other countries. The partnership between India and Israel covers many areas and Israel’s expertise in many fields including agriculture is of great importance to India. Stanly Johny asserts that India’s foreign policy is stripped of any moral concern. But he also adds that India needs to forcefully defend its own interests. That than is the answer to Niah Masih’s article. Having said that India has always championed the cause for a Palestinian State.It is the absolute brilliance of PM Modi that he has the Gulf states as well as Iran, US. USSR and European countries are all in tune with his position on a wide range of issues. He is a magician!
