This article has been written by a Meena Kandasamy who is described as a poet and writer. I do not know of her poetry but as a writer she has done appalingly. Let me dissect her grandiose claims to impress Guardian editor.
1 She claims that the protest has shaken Modi like nothing before.
As I write this the Cockroach protest has fizeled out like a damp squib
2 Modi’s image of invincibility is fractured she says.
The reality is that the whole nation has rallied round the PM. The people of India have realised that anarchists cannot be allowed to take over a country. Modi is as invincible as ever.
3 She claims CJP has shown that revolution can be fast tracked.
Even CJP leaders do not talk of a revolution. Meena Kandasamy is getting carried away here.
4 She talks about repressive apparatus and police brutality.
The fact is that the police have a duty to stop illegal protests. They were attacked by the mobs. Their leaders Sauran Das and Ashutosh Ranka deliberately broke the law by climbing over the baricades at Jantar Mantar.
5 Meena Kandasamy claims that for over a decade the, ‘regime’ has led a crusade against the students and other dissenters who are branded anti national.
Modi has won 3 general elections and transformed India. In desperation the opposition parties and CJP protestors are trying to overthrow the government.
The Delhi High Court Judge Prasad has said as much to CJP leaders. He said, ‘We suddenly hear something like a regime change…Something about switching it which we normally do by ballot’.
6 Meena Kandasamy waxes lyrical by claiming, ‘nothing is as seductive as young women defiantly clashing with uniformed police’. That in a nutshell is what Meena Kandasamy wants. To encourage young women to risk their future by fighting the State. After all she is safely away from the scene of action.
7 She claims that Hindus have been told time and again that Modi is their sole protector.
Yes Modi is defender of Hindus who are the majority and their ethos and values must be respected. Meena Kandasamy and her fellow travellers must come to terms with the new India.
