Professor Neil Chakraborti:

There is no doubt in my mind that the religious tensions in India and thefesso actions of a hard-line, violent, nationalist government there has had a direct influence on what we have seen,” said Professor Neil Chakraborti, director of the Centre for Hate Studies at Leicester University. “Without the BJP in power in India – without their demonisation of minority groups – it is difficult to imagine the same tensions

Nitin Mehta: My email to the Professor.

Dear Neil

Your article in the Independent is dishonest and biased.  You know perfectly well that the troubles in Leicester has nothing to do with the democratically elected government of India. You accuse the government of demonising a community which you cannot back up with any proof. You are attempting to bring India’s politics to this country and creating a situation whereby Hindus could be targeted. As a head of department at Leicester University of Hate Crimes you yourself  seem to have become guilty of it. Instead of helping to calm the situation you have blamed the Hindu community without bothering to know all the facts. I am sure this will be taken up with the Leicester University.
