A ban on importing hunting trophies to the UK has moved a step closer to becoming law with a vote by MPs. Body parts of elephants, bears, lions, hippos and zebras are among those currently allowed to be brought back from hunting trips. However an article by Juliet Samuel in the Times on 25 March, defended Trophy Hunting. My comments below were published in the Times
I can’t fathom Juliet Samuel defending Trophy Hunting. Have human beings no moral values left? A coward goes with a loaded gun sneaks up on an unsuspecting majestic animal and shoots it. He then stand with the dead animals and takes snaps. The moron should suffer the same fate in his next life or be killed by an animal. Hunting was introduced by European colonialists. The local people never killed for fun. Even when they killed they were brave enough to face the animal which had the chance to fight back. These cowards would not be able to kill even a chicken. The Masai stand much taller in their moral compassĀ than these trophy hunters and their sympathisers.
