In an otherwise factually correct account of the beginning of the Maha Kumbh Mela, Hannah cannot resist having a dig at Hindus. It is a deep rooted angst. She claims that the mega festival is a potent and politically advantageous symbol of Hindu unity and power for the hardliner Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and the PM Modi. Yogi she adds is spending £670 million on infrastructure and sanitisation projects. The Kumbh Mela on this scale takes place every 12 years. PM Narendra Modi or Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath did not choose this date so any claims of political advantage is nonsense. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is providing the pilgrims with the best facilities. 400 million people will be accommodated and fed. The revenues collected will more than cover the expenses. Hannah then complains that Muslim vendors will be barred from the festival. Would the Vatican allow a Hindu involvement in its major event? Why would a Hindu want to go to a Vatican event anyway? Hannah calls this magnificent, unprecedented event in Human history as most polarised. It is Hannah’s mindset which is polarised.
