William Dalrymple acknowledges India as a mother of Science and Religion.

I attended the book signing of William Dalrymple’s book, ‘The Golden Road ‘. It talks about India’s religious and cultural influence on most of Asia. I gave him my , ‘Ancient India’s Imprints and Influences on the World’. He said he wished he had known about it 6 months ago to find out what he has missed!
In question time, I said that his contention was that Greek ideas filtered into Europe. I said the Greeks actually took their ideas from India. From Vegetarianism to the immortality of the Soul to reincarnation. The Greek story of Hercules is identical to the story of Krishna. Their major works the Iliad and Odyssey, were exact replicas of Ramayana and Mahabharata.
He replied he did not want to sound like everything came from India!
However, he said he had no doubt India impacted the Greeks. In his book he has not gone beyond 2500 years. Indian History is tens of thousands of years old.
